Go ahead… sing along with me… “It was a rainy night in Reno…”, oh…that was Georgia. Well, the battle between the McQueen Lancers and the Elko Indians last week was rainy indeed.

For avid Lancer fans, and rabid football Mom’s like me, it just didn’t matter to us. It’s my son’s senior year, and beat up as he is from playing both sides of the ball, #77 Quaid Sterling had another great game. I felt like the people in the old 7-UP commercials dancing in the rain. It was a shame though that the weather was so foul, as this was Homecoming. I felt a bit sorry for the seniors who were in that celebration had to miss the traditional ride around the field in fancy sports cars donated by local dealerships, and the on-field half time celebrations that are so memorable. However, the queen candidates looked beautiful anyway, and the ROTC did a nice job seeing them through their pomp and circumstance.

McQueen held to their tradition of winning, and reigned victorious over the Indians 31-10. As I’ve stated before, it’s so hard in this Northern 4A Region – High Desert League, as all the very best high schools in this area are in our league. A team almost has to be undefeated to have a shot at playoff games. We are 5-1, which is great considering our team is small this year, and we have to play with pure heart and discipline. Even still, we are at 3rd place. First place is held by Reed (6-1), whom we MUST knock out in our next game! Galena (our only loss) is in second place with our same 5-1 record, however for both these teams, their one loss was not in division play, and ours was. Thank goodness we had a bye week this week, which will give our beat up guys a week to rest, and watch out! Here come the Lancers. Below, see the highlight photos this week featuring our mighty Lancers, and of course highlighting my son Quaid Sterling #77. (It’s great to be a Mom with a blog!! :) HUGE kudos to our tireless staff at the awesome LancerFan.com where I graciously pirated the wonderful highlight photos :)
