I own a big rig, and diesel pickup garage. I know first hand how vital a good light is when you make your living depending on one. I have posted about OpticsPlanet.net before, but right now they are highlighting their flashlight selection. When thinking of quality lights, the brand names SureFire, Streamlight, and Pelican LED come to mind. The folks at OpticsPlanet have hands free headlamps, lanterns, pocket lights, gun mount lights, and flash light accessories. They have a huge selection of lights used by law enforcement professionals and fire fighters. Discount pricing is available for large orders, and they offer FREE UPS SHIPPING on any order $29.95 and over. Engineered for maximum performance and precision manufactured, surefire flashlights pride themselves for having no dark holes, hot spots, or shadows. Streamlight brand was the first million candle power light produced for NASA in the 70’s, and is waterproof up to 200ft. Their site is easy to navigate, and flashlights are just the mere beginning of cool “trick shit” items they sell geared toward the active man or woman. Military personel, hunters, people hunting fun lights, or anyone "just needing some light" will find some "have to have" items here. |

Republicans Lost - We Must Rally As A Country
Photo Sharing - Upload Video - Video Sharing - Share Photos Can “WE ALL JUST GET ALONG?”…No, not completely, not ever, but SUCH A WONDERFUL THOUGHT, or imagination, or fantasy. I wish we could. AND my photo of choice is the horrible depiction of what may NOT come to pass, but wouldn’t it be wonderful if it could. In the words of the late John Lennon…”Imagine”… It’s the day after Election Day…turns out to be an emotional one for all Republicans. In my state of Nevada, it was odd and emotional on two fronts. We were celebratory in the fact that most of our Republican candidates won, but on our local issues and questions…the liberals won. Reno, NV is one of the top five fastest growing cities in the nation. We have had a housing boom over the past five years due to the mass exodus of liberal minded folks from the People’s Republic of California (it’s stalling now considerably). Unfortunately, they moved their views with their belongings. In Nevada, a pretty extreme no smoking policy passed with big numbers. A very well balanced proposal to legalize less than one ounce of marijuana with 50% of funds going into tax coffers, and the other 50% of profits going to rehab and drug education failed miserably, even with the addition to agree to raise the legal breath limit on alcohol violations (that may have been the kicker). In response to the Democrats taking both the house and the senate… I am an American. I believe in our system, and hey…we lost. I’m going to give those that won an honest chance to stake their claim to positive change before I bad mouth them. Nancy Pelosi who is now Speaker of the House is in my opinion a very scary character, especially since I’ve followed her close relationship to Harry Reid (who is one of Nevada’s most ICKY politicians ever). However, her speech today on television was cherry picked and most pleasant. We can only hope that the Democrats are truly willing to make positive change and not remain on her usual track of extreme left wing views. I’m also emotional today due to the fact that NOT TEN MINUTES after the Democratic House leader Pelosi licked our eyebrows…Bush got on television and announced Donald Rumsfeld’s resignation. Boy…was that a fall guy speech or what? I am a Republican, and I happen to love Bush a lot. However, God love his little pea-pickin’ heart…he should have a stunt double whenever a speech needs to be made. At his press conference, his initial speech was OK, but as usual with any politician, it was read verbatim by whoever is “the dude” that writes the speeches. When it came time to answer questions…poor Bush stepped all over his own dick. The one guy asks him (in generality), “So…you said only a few days ago that Rumsfeld is GREAT, and will last the length of your Presidential term, and now today after the election…he’s out…so what say you Mr. President?” And Bush, stumbles on his words, and says (in generality), “Yeah…huh, huh, I knew I was gonna do this a few days ago, but I didn’t wanna spook the election by telling you only a couple of days before Election Day.” EXCUSE ME…GEORGE…MY PRESIDENT…ME…REMEMBER…ONE OF THE FOLKS THAT SUPPORTS YOU AND DEFENDS YOU IN WRITING ON A REGULAR BASIS…HELLLLLOOOOO!!, I swear I had flash backs of Clinton stating (in generality)…”DUH, No Sir…I don’t believe that constitutes the true definition of sex…I didn’t ACTUALLY screw anybody.” If that wasn’t bad enough, poor Bush didn’t follow up Pelosi’s speech (time will tell if she’s for real) well on these facts… He made it sound like this was Rumsfeld’s idea all along. He called it “Rumsfeld likes to call it fresh eyes”…”It’s time to have a new perspective on the war”. If Bush KNEW he was going to do this…then he SHOULD HAVE DONE IT AT THE VERY MOMENT HE CAME TO THAT DECISION… not wait until the election didn’t go the way Republicans wanted it to go. In our companies, within a few short hours, when we’ve decided for whatever reason that someone has to be fired, we do it. It’s always painful. We do have a feeling for a time prior that it may be coming, but whenever the time comes, and the straw breaks the camel’s back…the camel rises up and says goodbye. Bush should have done the same, and if he would have, possibly a few more Republican seats would have been protected. Also, while Robert Gates is a really decent choice for a replacement, Bush should not already be praising him for what he’s going to do in that position when he’s not even been confirmed yet. If the Democrats know what’s good for them, they should continue their gracious willingness to “work in a bi-partisan manner”, and confirm this guy. But, Bush in his current “I just swallowed my own tongue” speech should have left the kudos at ex-head of the CIA. He could have left out the President of Texas A&M part. While A&M is one of the very finest institutions of higher learning in the country…and Gates is VERY QUALIFIED, by emphasizing that point, it made it seem like Bush is appointing another “buddy” from Texas. It just didn’t go over well in the context of the rest of his failed commentary. I hope Gates IS CONFIRMED, he is GOOD. However, he is very close to James Baker, and some think that Baker will use him as a personal puppet to run the Defense office…why didn’t they just bring Baker back. Baker did an OK job, and it was “mostly peace time then”, why not nominate him? Oh yeah…that was Daddy Bush’s man…he’d NEVER get approved. A lot of mess yet to come, and while Democrats today made picture perfect speeches…we’ll see. I CAN ONLY HOPE that all goes well, and the folks on Capitol Hill play nice together, but we all know, that hasn’t been the case for some time. My best friend is Democrat, and it’s funny to us that for the most part we both agree on most really dire issues. We both believe that if the two of us, or like minded people were in the seats of congress or senate, the party system would be pretty much be a mute point. Most true Americans sit pretty close to center. I hope that Mr. Emanuel was successful in finding those “perfect” Democrats to win the seats necessary to take over lower government. If so, we will see some much needed positive change on the hill, if not (please let’s all pray not), then NOTHING AT ALL will be accomplished for two years. We can all just get back to our day to day hanging on and write off any good until 2008. |

Chuck Hildebrand Speaks Out Against Ken Dalton
Photo Sharing - Upload Video - Video Sharing - Share Photos A well publicized local sports media personality turned me on to this article today. I now see why I’ve never understood why no matter how good McQueen High School does, or does not do, we get horrible press coverage. I think some people who get stomped on and called at the mark are jealous of those that put them in their place. I’ve been put in my place, heck, on a daily basis as a business owner it sometimes happens. When it does (and because it’s rare), rather than immediately come to blows, I try to just compose and then sit back in retrospect and see if that “asshole” was right, or do I need to give him a Southern piece of my mind. Sometimes, I sit quiet and realize I just got taught a lesson I needed to be taught. So goes it with Ken Dalton. It’s no secret he’s not everybody’s favorite person, but I generally choose to sit quiet when I have an evil thought his way. My heroes have always been cowboys, and assholes (good ones). I’m proudly married to one of the biggest ones, and he’s successful and has done really well by me and my kids. So has Ken Dalton. Coach Dalton has done as much to make my son a real man in four years as any of his parents have been able to do. Dalton’s record speaks for itself, and old school is something I’m not willing to give up in the men of this nation. Being a REAL MAN sometimes calls for a hard line, I’m proud to know Mr. Dalton, and I’m happy my son has had four years of his influence. My son (who’s had words before with him) will be the FIRST ONE to stand in defense of this great man. As a mother, I can TELL when something’s ARY with the kid. I’ve questioned him before when I could TELL coach and he had a word or two. We have an open household, in which we sometimes “pretend” we are not parents and kids aren’t kids and we just talk as friends or adults. My OWN SON has told me before…”Mom, it’s just none of your business.”…”What happens in the locker room or on the field stays in the locker room and on the field.”… And then a day or so later, all is well again and back to normal. Football is an entity of its own, and those who walk in that circle walk it together. My kids have ALWAYS been able to speak to their parents candidly about anything good or bad that sparks them. And, they do. I’m proud of my son, and I take him at his word…along with whatever relations I’ve had with this coach over many years. I’m not a bit ashamed to admit that when my son was in elementary school, and already playing Pop Warner and SYFL football I realized he would be a player…a starter. I bought my home, on purpose, many years ago specifically in the district that would allow him to play high school football and get the education that goes with that at what I feel to be one of the most elite high schools in Reno…McQueen High School. I’m printing below the quoted article from NevadaPrep.com that was written by Chuck Hildebrand. I have no idea who he is, but I felt his article was a bit harsh, and who puts “French Flare” in a phrase like “l’affaire de Dalton” in a FOOTBALL ARTICLE. Football is not a “sauce to be poured over fine food”, it’s blood and guts and principles of manhood. Football is like military service…only the tough and solid and those willing to fight for a cause do it. Good writing from the standpoint of pure journalism, but I feel a hint of anger here. LANCERS…GO FORTH AND READ THIS… BRING IT TO YOUR LOCKER ROOM AND USE IT FOR INSPIRATION. Good luck Friday, and be all you can be. CHUCK HILDEBRAND’S ARTICLE: Updated: 11/8/2006 CHUCK HILDEBRAND COLUMN: Why there’s something to be learned – and gained – from – l’affaire de Dalton Now that the sordid, slanderous continuum of cacophony that was the 2006 Nevada election finally is over, we can move on to somewhat less sordid column topics. And as seemingly is the case more often than not these days, an off-the-field matter – l’affaire de Dalton – seems to be the main topic of discussion this football postseason. As most everyone who cares about high school sports knows by now, the Washoe County School District suspended McQueen football coach Ken Dalton for the duration of the playoffs after he had a physical confrontation with two of his players during school last Monday (Oct. 30). I’m not prepared to offer an opinion on whether the punishment was justified, because I wasn’t there, and the people who were there aren’t talking – nor should they be, given the possibility of future litigation. All we know is that Dalton would have been fired, and probably criminally charged, if he had actually struck either of the players with an attempt to injure, and that he would have been cleared completely if there hadn’t been some sort of physical contact. So we’ll just leave the “what” element at that. But I think it should be pointed out that given the fact the players, and two of their teammates, were cited by police for a violation of the NIAA’s drug/alcohol/tobacco policy during the UNR football game two days earlier, the matter should have been in the hands of the school administration and not in Dalton’s. The NIAA mandates a six-week suspension for a first offense – commutable to two weeks if the players comply with an alcohol-education program. Coaches do have the power to kick a player off a team permanently for violations of team and school policy, but most simply let the administration and the NIAA handle the problem and tell the players that they’ve punished themselves by getting into trouble in the first place. On the other hand, that’s not the Ken Dalton way. Never has been, at least as long as I’ve known him. Dalton has won 259 games and five state championships (and two CIF Northern Section titles) during his 33-year career largely because of his preoccupation with detail and his predilection for controlling every aspect of his program. Nothing involving McQueen football is out of his hands, if he can help it, so the fact he didn’t react calmly to the situation last week didn’t surprise me.The other thing you have to know about Ken Dalton is that, maybe more than any high school coach I’ve ever known, he has very few shades of gray in his personal makeup and in his dealings with people. His world is one of black and white (or, to put it another way, McQueen blue and silver). If he thinks you’re loyal to him, he’ll return that loyalty and he’ll keep doing it long after you’re done playing for him. If you’re not – and especially if you do, say or write anything that he considers damaging or damning to McQueen football – he’ll slam the door on you as if you were an FBI agent confronting a doorman at a Prohibition speakeasy. He’s done it to me, after I wrote about a couple of incidents involving his players that he claims to this day didn’t happen, even though I know for certain that they did. We haven’t exchanged more than a few cursory words in more than three years, and we cover McQueen football hardly at all now because he apparently has decided he doesn’t want or need to work with us. So given the way he reacted to me, I can imagine how angry he must have been with those four players after learning of the events at the UNR game. Yet despite my differences with him, I couldn’t help but feel saddened as the events of last week became public knowledge, and despite what some McQueen people might think, I didn’t want him to lose his job or be disgraced. Dalton has a masters degree in business administration, and had he chosen to go into the corporate world, he’d probably be a CEO and a multi-millionaire by now, because he does know how to run a business and make things work. Anybody in that position who instead takes an altruistic career route and spends 40 years in the teaching/coaching profession deserves respect, if not admiration. If he had been fired because of this incident, he would have become the Woody Hayes of Nevada, remembered for one instance of bad judgment instead of all those games won and lives influenced. As with Hayes, I don’t think Dalton deserves to have a stigma like that attached to his legacy. We didn’t get many responses to our stories about the Dalton situation, probably because I think most people involved with that program have the same antipathy for us that Dalton does, and don’t much care whether we cover them or not. But there was a post on www.lancerfan.com, a McQueen booster website, that I think reflects how most of the people who have played and worked for Dalton feel about him. “All I can say is I played for Dalton a few years ago and while I didn't like listening to him when he was pissed at me or another player … he's never once struck, slapped, spit, kicked, shoved or done anything intimidating to anyone on my team other than to point out in no uncertain terms what an incredibly stupid football move and mental mistake you just made,” the post read in part. “Yeah - you walk away feeling a few inches shorter, and your ears are ringing for a few minutes afterward, but you never forgot his point either! Regardless what you might think of Dalton - the players respect him because he earns it year after year.” Chad Peters, the former Lowry basketball coach who was a football assistant under Dalton at McQueen, described him this way a couple of years ago: “Ken is more like a politician, and I mean that in a good way. He just has this knack for saying and doing the right thing. The first impression Ken makes is always good … if you shake his hand, not only does he know who you are, he knows who your wife is, your kids’ names, everything. He listens very well, and he’s so enthusiastic when he talks that you can’t help being enthusiastic yourself.” In both those respects, Dalton, 60, is something of a period piece … and take that as you choose. In 1967, when he first started coaching, and through the 1970s and 1980s and even into the 1990s, many, if not most, coaches were like that. You could get away with a lot more back then in terms of your treatment of your players, like screaming face-to-facemask at them, verbally dressing them down in front of their teammates, or even pushing them or slapping them on the helmet. Usually, the players took whatever the coaches dished out, and a lot of the time, it became a motivating force for them, as it apparently was for the former player I just quoted. Also, because coaching turnover, parental and administrative interference, and the degree to which athletes focus on their individual recruiting statuses were far less pronounced then than they are now, coaches tended to be figures in the community. They didn’t insulate themselves to the degree that many coaches – especially those in urban areas – do now. Dalton is old-school from that standpoint, and when he wants to turn on the charm, as Peters said, he can inspire complete loyalty among his players and the program’s followers. It’s still true that ultra-successful coaches like Dalton will get extra leeway, especially if they have a supportive administration, as Dalton does at McQueen. Players, parents, students and alumni all want to be part of a program that contends for a state championship almost every year. To do that, they’ll consider the source (and the risk of losing playing time) if a coach like Dalton gets upset with them. Unlike a lot of coaches, Dalton doesn’t have to play anyone, and if a player isn’t doing the job or doesn’t have the attitude Dalton wants, there’s always a multitude of replacements at the ready. At the same time, regardless of how successful a coach is today and how much loyalty he inspires, the absolute bottom line in sports at any level is that the only way you can make physical contact with a player – beyond a handshake or a high-five or something of that nature – is by hugging him supportively or in congratulation, or by patting him on the head or back, either in praise or in exhortation. Even verbal abuse can get you in trouble because coaches are perceived as teachers first. As such, they are expected to interact with players in much the same way that classroom teachers do, with allowances made for the fact that athletics by their nature tend to be more emotional than your typical geometry class. And I think that’s a good thing. I know I always responded to coaches, teachers and bosses much more productively if they treated me with respect and didn’t make their point by trying to embarrass or ridicule me, and I think most people feel the same way. Most of the best coaches I’ve known over the years were also very good classroom teachers, some in subjects having nothing to do with sports. Reed basketball coach and math teacher Paul Gray is one example who comes immediately to mind. The late Bud Presley, whom Bob Knight once said had the most astute basketball mind he’d ever come across, was a close friend. Bud, who was an assistant at UNLV for a while in the early 1980s and basically taught Jerry Tarkanian how to teach defense, had a masters degree in English, and he was tougher on me than my editors if I ever made a syntactical or grammatical mistake in a story. Another coach in this category was former Loyola Marymount basketball coach Paul Westhead, who also taught history classes at LMU at the time he took that Los Angeles university, which had little athletic heritage at the time and has done nothing since, within one win of the Final Four in 1990. (UNLV, which went on to win the national championship, beat the Lions in the West Regional final that year. That also was the year that LMU star Hank Gathers collapsed and died on the floor during a West Coast Conference tournament game.) I also have been in the classroom on a day-to-day basis, as an advisor to the student newspaper at the school where I coached baseball in the mid-1990s. I know that experience gave me teaching tools that made me a better baseball coach – and maybe, after that, a better reporter and writer. The whole idea – in coaching, teaching or any other position of authority – is to get the most out of the people under you, and giving them not only knowledge and interest in the subject at hand, but also coping skills that can help them in their post-athletic endeavors. Intimidation and anger usually don’t accomplish that. I think Ken Dalton, in his frustration over an incident of the sort you don’t often see in his program and maybe in a momentary surrender to hubris, forgot those things last week. But I’m glad, for the sake of the Greater Nevada sports community, he didn’t lose his job and that he’ll presumably be back coaching next year. And as I’ve found out more times than I’d care to count, there’s something to be learned and gained from every mistake. I’m sure Dalton is wise enough to know that, and hopefully that will be to everyone’s benefit. |

Reno Landmark Mizpah Hotel Goes Up In Smoke
Photo Sharing - Upload Video - Video Sharing - Share Photos Photo Sharing - Upload Video - Video Sharing - Share Photos Reno says goodbye to one of its historical landmarks. The Mizpah hotel, which is home to several businesses on the ground level, was basically demolished by flames Tuesday night. This building was one of Reno’s original downtown hotels, built around 1921. The massive four alarm fire was started when Valerie Moore 47 (photo below), had an altercation with a hotel guest and decided to lean a mattress against his door and set it on fire. Ms. Moore had just recently been paroled on a 17 year prison stay for 2nd degree murder. At least six people are dead in this fire, and officials fear more bodies may be found when the hotel is examined where the third floor collapsed during the blaze. More than 30 others were injured, and many had to jump out of windows to escape the fire. I want to extend my special thoughts to the owner of the Blind Onion Pizza parlor that was fairly new to this neighborhood, and was located on the bottom floor of the hotel. My son used to work for this gentleman. He had just opened his second Blind Onion establishment several months ago, when a drunk woman left a local hotel on a bad driving rampage and crashed her car into his business. This woman hit a “substantial pillar” of the structure and caused him a few months of downtime then until authorities were able to deem the structure safe again. Now, just a few months later, the business is destroyed in a senseless arson fire. Valerie Moore is currently in custody on charges of 6 counts of murder, one count of arson, and one count of parole violation. So much senseless destruction and murderous loss of life by an uncaring irresponsible individual. May she never see the light of day again! McQueen High School Football Coach Ken Dalton Suspended
Photo Sharing - Upload Video - Video Sharing - Share Photos Well, it’s political season with plenty of scandal to go around just before Election Day…and so it is playoff season too. I guess playoffs cannot proceed this year in Reno without a football scandal as well. I have to climb upon the Soap Box for this one though. I’m REALLY PISSED, and just cannot let this one go by without opening my big mouth (which usually doesn’t win you any popularity contests), but hey…some things just need to be said. Before I perch myself upon the Soap Box, let’s get this all clear and in the open. This is an “ongoing investigation”, and as usually goes, no one’s talking much and facts are scant. So, that being said…all I can give here is the best “hearsay” available, along with one blogger’s personal opinion of what’s out so far. Last time I checked though, America is still a free country and the freedom of speech is something bloggers enjoy tremendously. So what I’m giving in this post is my personal opinion, and nothing to be quoted as hard fact. I’m no more than a loyal McQueen parent with a senior son who is a starter on the football team. Coach Ken Dalton, the one and only head football coach McQueen High School has ever had has been suspended with pay pending an investigation on allegations he struck one or more football players at school. He is not allowed on campus right now, and is to have no contact with any of his students until “official decisions” have been made by the school district. The McQueen Lancers head off to Minden, NV Friday night for the first round of playoff games to face Douglas High School. It is uncertain yet if Coach Dalton will be present to lead his team in this game. Here’s how the story goes so far… Last weekend, at the UNR (University of Nevada Reno) Wolf Pack football game, some minor age football players from McQueen High School got busted drinking at a tailgate party. The story has it that the underage drinking wasn’t even well concealed; the kids were drinking beer straight from a bottle. They were also supposedly engaging in some rather unsavory personal conduct by heckling and throwing things at passers by. Supposedly, the law cited a couple of the kids for MIC (minor in consumption). At school on Monday, allegedly, Coach Ken Dalton had a confrontation with a couple of the kids over how STUPID their conduct was, and slapped one or more of them in the face. No one knows if the parents of these kid(s) are a part of the complaint, or it’s just the school district’s usual immediate “action to avoid the preverbal lawsuit”. Here’s where my opinion comes in, and my strong conviction about this whole matter. Coach Dalton began coaching McQueen High when the school opened in 1982. He is now 60 years old and has a winning record of 209-61. He is the most winning high school coach in Nevada. He’s lead the team to FIVE state championships, and NINE regional championships (1990-2002). Four of his seasons, the team went undefeated. Chris Carr, #23 and a rookie this year for the Oakland Raiders was a player on one of these state championship teams. Can Ken Dalton be a bit self centered and arrogant at times?...yes he can be. Is Ken Dalton a HUGE disciplinarian and does he demand the best of his players?...yes he does. Has his attitude and rigidness placed him on my personal little shit list a time or two over the years?...yet it has. Do I love and admire Ken Dalton?...yes I do. I am so glad that my son has had the privilege to be a part of the Lancer football program. I recently attended a football booster meeting in which Coach Dalton was NOT present. He had left town for ONE DAY to attend his father-in-law’s funeral (who was also a coach). This was the ONLY booster meeting the man ever missed in 24 years. He is tirelessly dedicated to this school and his football team. He has set the standard for McQueen’s Tradition of Winning. He has taken hundreds of little boys and turned them into men before they leave high school to enter the REAL WORLD. He is a Harvard graduate and teaches business law. (Several McQueen coaches attended Harvard ). He is a father, a husband, and a really decent man. He sets incredibly high standards for himself, and doesn’t ask of any of his players less than he is willing to give. His decisions are hard sometimes, and everybody will never agree with one man. I know it’s a RULE that teachers are not supposed to touch the children anymore. They also cannot hug them or touch them in any way, the kids cannot pray anymore at school, since “One Nation Under God” just might offend someone, they cannot even say the Pledge of Allegiance anymore. The boys cannot wear caps; no liquid paper allowed anymore, the stupid list goes on and on. If these allegations are true, I’m sorry for Coach Dalton that he broke a rule, and had a momentary lapse of good reason according to the liberal rules our schools have now dictated so that “Little Johnny’s” self esteem is not damaged. However…what about the rules that these students broke…even laws, not just rules. It’s not a God given right to be a student athlete. It’s a privilege. In a city the size of Reno, NV, these high school athletes are in the public eye a lot. Our local television stations play their highlights and interview them. Our newspapers print their accolades. Especially, at a high school with a record like the one of McQueen, these kids should be held to just a little higher standard. These children were acting out, and were an embarrassment to the reputation of our high school, our community, and our city. If it is true and if you ask me…they had it coming. This kid(s) Mama should have been smacking him on one side while Dalton was smacking him on the other, and his Daddy should have been behind him with a stiff boot up his rear end! Even if Dalton did what he has been accused of, it was a tap. These kids aren’t HURT! These kids get beat up every day in practice and on the field of play. One little slap on the face by a football coach isn’t going to do a thing but hopefully teach them a lesson in manhood. As I said before, I have no idea where the parents of these children stand on this issue. I know if it was me and my son…I might not be happy with Coach Dalton, I might have a meeting with him to state that we can handle our own discipline in our own household, but hey…if my kid acts up like that, he might just have it coming. I was raised in the South; my Mamma & Daddy would have whooped my butt in a second for such behavior. I would have been lucky to get off with a mere slap to the face. I would like to see these parents call off this suspension and have a sit down with Dalton and both admit where they might have been wrong, or thank the man for caring enough about their sons to show them a hard line. Teenagers (mine included on occasion) have always, and will always do some stupid things; these kids owe our school, their parents, and themselves an apology. So may Ken Dalton owe the parents an apology. All parties involved need to move forward and have a learning and growing experience here. This man does not deserve to be suspended; his career tarnished, and not be able to coach his team into the playoffs. This should be a simple matter settled between adults in a civil conversation. Until this whole mess is sorted out, Coach Jim Snelling (one of my very favorite coaches on the McQueen staff) has been appointed as interim head coach. If Dalton does not make it to Friday’s game, the Lancers will be in excellent hands with Coach Snelling. Good luck Lancers! Photo Sharing - Upload Video - Video Sharing - Share Photos |

John Kerry - "I APOLOGIZE TO NO ONE!"
Photo Sharing - Upload Video - Video Sharing - Share Photos Senator John Kerry made a speech recently in front of a crowd of college students. I actually heard this speech on the radio coming into work this morning. I have to admit, when I heard him make this statement, “You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. And if you don't, you get stuck in Iraq," my mouth dropped. I could not believe someone who feels he won the Presidency of the USA, and was then “cheated” out of it, someone who is considered a favored “leader” of the Democratic Party would say anything so insensitive. I heard the speech BEFORE the statement, and the context of the speech AFTER the statement. People weren’t laughing…and then after a second or two of silence…a rare few chuckles were heard, but I think even the audience was shocked. At THIS LINK, the video can be seen of John Kerry’s speech after the fact in which he claims, “I APOLOGIZE TO NO ONE!”. He claims the statement about education was a botched joke about the President, George Bush, and he will NOT APOLOGIZE for ANYTHING he says about Bush or his failure as a president. Well, I think John Kerry owes an apology. Even if, the apology is for pure stupidity. Any American in the spotlight such as himself should NOT go in public running his mouth in such a tasteless way. I’m so glad he DIDN’T WIN the presidency, there’s enough purely stupid people in Washington already. |
